Posting Guidelines

Focus of the website

The ActivistSolutions.org site is intended to focus on proposed solutions to public policy problems, the challenge of increasing the quantity and improving the quality of public participation in the democratic process, and related topics.

Onsite dialogue will be moderated in an effort to facilitate positive constructive interaction. While some side conversation and ancillary discussions may be acceptable, users are encouraged to keep posted material on topic.

Prohibited Activity

Material that is illegal, threatening, excessively obscene, endorses a candidate for public office, or which constitutes a personal attack will not be permitted. (Please read our Terms of Service for a complete description of activity that will be excluded.) Content will be screened after the fact and removed if it violates any of the guidelines. Authors of screened or removed material will be notified of this action via email, the reasons for non-publication will be explained, and the author invited to resubmit. People who abuse these guidelines may be excluded from future participation.

Moderator intervention

Moderators may choose to edit or alter posted material that contains spelling or grammatical errors, is placed in an inappropriate location on the site, or has a misleading title.

“Solution” posts must describe a solution in their "Solution Summary" section (as opposed to describing a problem, merely stating a goal or objective, or describing how important it is that a solution be found). Similarly, “Problem” posts will only be published as such if they state a public policy problem (as opposed to a personal or other type of problem, or material which does not describe a problem at all).

Authors will have the option of attaching “tags” (labels) to their Solution or Problem posts, which will categorize the content in a number of dimensions (issues addressed, actions called for, etc.). Moderators reserve the right to modify or remove or edit these tag choices, and to add additional labels, in order to maintain site organization.

Moderators will never remove or edit content based on the political or ideological point of view expressed.
