Activist Newsletter & Calendar of Events

Around the country and across the street

The Activist Newsletter and Calendar of Events will be posted online and emailed to subscribers on a weekly basis. Its purpose will be to serve the organizations and volunteers participating in the Solution Exchange, the Dialogue Network for Action (DNA), and ActionMatch, as well as the larger activist community. The Newsletter will briefly summarize the ongoing progress of the organizations listed in ActionMatch and report on their activities. The Calendar will present a schedule of the weekly special events sponsored by these groups, with links that point to their websites for further information.

The Newsletter will include brief references to the specific plans, activities, and the progress of participating groups. New fundraising or lobbying campaigns might be publicized, along with important personnel or policy changes. The progress of the Solution Exchange and the Dialogue Network for Action (DNA) will be reported regularly.

The weekly Calendar of Events will list nationwide activities to which the general public is invited. Local events can be accessed by following the link to the Calendar website and entering a zip code (or city and state). Each event listed will also include a link to the sponsoring group’s website

Readers of the Newsletter and Calendar might join with each other to form Dialogue Network for Action groups in which to plan activities of their own. These individuals will design events that they believe address issues of concern and which might be helpful to participating organizations. The activities they undertake will be publicized in the Newsletter and Calendar.

Who will get the newsletter?

Each organization that is listed in the ActionMatch directory will distribute the Activist Newsletter and Calendar to their own membership and any other individuals or groups they want to invite to join their activities or to attend their events. In this way, each will reach out to a much larger audience than would otherwise be available to them. In the long term, we expect the Activist Newsletter and Calendar to encourage and facilitate more collaboration between participating groups, whenever they pursue common objectives.

Readers can customize it

At the website, it will be possible to sort that week’s events in a number of ways. Activities can be grouped by day or according to the type of event involved, such as rallies, marches, speeches, discussion groups, or other political events. Some types of events might be divided further into sub-categories. Fundraisers might be divided into bake sales, auctions, art shows, dinners, parties, and entertainment benefits like concerts, films, and theater parties. In each case, the Calendar will list the names of the groups sponsoring each event, times, and locations, as well as appropriate links to additional information.
