Specifically, what would it do about poverty in all three countries, but most particularly in the Mexico as it exists now? What influence could succeed in limiting the seemingly limitless greed of many powerful corporations now profiting from NAFTA and the status quo? Every one of your recommendations seem plausible—they could and should work, but who would pay for all this? Strikes are effective tools but they’re costly to get going and they’re hard to sell because they cost jobs as well as cash. Such ideas need a lot of public exposure to gain acceptance. How could that happen? Do you have plans for how to begin? I’d love to see this happen—but how?
