Film Review: The Reflecting Pool

Whether you see yourself as a truth seeker, patriotic American, independent thinker or voter, or just someone with bad memories of 9/11, you should make an effort to view The Reflecting Pool, a new independent movie. It is not about 9/11. It is about the credibility of the official government story about 9/11. Though a drama, it is based on meticulously researched facts about 9/11 as revealed in the bonus material on the DVD.

The overall level of religious and family friendly programming available on America's cable television systems is in danger

Issue(s): Media , Religion
Problem description

Local broadcasters rely on what are known as "must carry" regulations that require cable companies to carry their local broadcast signal. With the advent of digital television, that requirement will no longer exist unless Congress takes action.

Where to list propaganda problem

Thanks a lot for posting!

I would think this problem could be listed in two places in our directory of issues, right off the bat: under "corporate influence," because that is the net result of the propaganda you're talking about -- inordinate influence by corporate entities on the thoughts and attitudes of the populace; and "mass media," because that is the primary mechanism through which the propaganda is delivered. What do you think about listing this in those two places, so people concerned with those two issues will come across your problem?

uninformed and propaganda disinformed population

Issue(s): Corporations , Media
Problem description

Propaganda technologies pioneered by psychologists and developed by corporate interests, coupled with media control/diffusion, blocks the population from being reasonably informed on any of these subjects. These powerful techniques and technologies can be resisted by learning to be truly aware of them, how they work, what they look like in our daily experience. But this kind of learning is easily sabotaged by the ingenious propaganda techniques themselves.

Corporate control of local media

Issue(s): Media
Problem description

Under current FCC rules, a company can own one of the top four television station in each market area. The FCC does not limit the number of television stations a single company can own nationwide, so long as it’s share of the total national audience remains below 39%. Also, none of the four major networks (ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC) can merge with each other. FCC rules prohibit a single company from owning a broadcast station (radio or television) and a daily newspaper, if that broadcast station’s service area completely encompasses the newspaper’s city of publication.

I haven't followed the 9/11 investigation issue very closely

I suppose that I am good evidence of the lack of media attention that you speak of. I have posted an Open Forum topic for this problem that lists a few places people can go to read more about this issue. Please go there and recommend additional resources or critique the ones I've posted.

What solution do you propose for this problem? I hope you will post one.

Events of 9/11 have not been impartially investigated

Issue(s): Media
Problem description

Nearly half of all Americans believe that the official story of the events of 9/11 involves a cover-up, and yet the media refuses to do any serious investigation of this possibility, or to allow any serious debate about it. Our liberties, the war, our tolerance of this administration, and our belief that Arabs are evil are all based on the official story. If it goes, much will have to change.
