David P. Gushee is Distinguished University Professor of Christian Ethics at McAfee School of Theology. He earned his Bachelor of Arts at the College of William and Mary, Master of Divinity at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and both the Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy at Union Theological Seminary in New York. Dr. Gushee came to McAfee from Union University where he served for 11 years, most recently as University Fellow and Graves Professor of Moral Philosophy.

As University Professor, Dr. Gushee teaches throughout Mercer University in his specialty, Christian ethics. He currently serves as Co-Chair of the Biblical/Contextual Ethics Group of the American Academy of Religion. He is the president of Evangelicals for Human Rights as well as a columnist for Christianity Today magazine and Associated Baptist Press. He has written 9 books, 75 scholarly essays, articles, and reviews, and hundreds of magazine articles, and opinion pieces. His books include the award-winning Kingdom Ethics, as well as Righteous Gentiles of the Holocaust, and Only Human. He was the principal drafter of both the Evangelical Climate Initiative and the Evangelical Declaration Against Torture.

Currently, Dr. Gushee is researching about the intersection between Christian faith, ethics and public policy. He also has two books coming out in 2008, The Future of Faith in American Politics (Baylor University Press) and The Scholarly Vocation and the Baptist Academy (Mercer University Press).
